Can anyone tel l me what the number in brackets means?
|

I'm very confused as to what the number in brackets which is sometimes displayed after the number of replies a post has received means.Can anyone help me ? I really can't work it out.

I think it means the number of replies that you havent read. Not 100% sure but I am sure someone will clarify.

Yep think the same as Jewels, the total number of posts say is 10 but the number in brackets say 1 is the number you havent yet read.

Sorry but the explanation that the number in brackets is the number of posts I've not read in a topic can't be right because it's showing on posts that I haven't looked at.Perhaps it could be,as gigi suggested, the number of people viewing the topic ? Is this right,does anyone know?

The first number is the total number of times that that thread has been viewed (even if the forumer didn't make a post).
The second number is the number of posts for that thread.
The third (in brackets) is the number of new posts that you haven't read, so if you have never opened that thread yet the second and third number will be the same (eg. 10 posts in total, 10 to read)
If you have looked at that thread and then come back to it later and other people have posted meanwhile, the second and third number will be different (eg. 15 posts in total, 5 to read)
