Not only did I wake up to to the usual sound of the builders next door this morning at 7.30 prompt but also to heavy rain falling on the roof.I am thankful for the rain but certainly not for the builders who right now are drilling a hole in the main wall of next doors house to access their new extension. Over the last few days and since last weekend we here in this part of Kent UK have had just a few spots of it up until now. I had put a weed and feed on the lawn and it was beginning to burn in places and needed the rain. I am sure those who live in a dessert welcome the life giving rain and don't take their water for granted. As for builders I guess the folks next door are thankful for them as they work well, quickly and no loud music. The benefits are just hidden from me right now as I like the radio on and when the sun is out and their tops are off ![]()

I'll pray for the rain to stay in this part of the Uk for today for you Snowdrop. As Duffy says I hope your sons birthday Bar B Q goes well and is in the dry. For one of our kids birthdays, I forget which one, we had a bouncy castle with hundreds of balls in it. I went in it before the rest of the party kids arrived and had a whale of a time ![]() Enjoy the day, sun and the bouncy castle Snowdrop

Like you Duffy I love to walk the dogs in the rain and enjoy the feeling. When my girls were little we often went out in the rain and they would splash about in the park in bare feet because they said it made the grass soft. They loved the mud squelching through their toes. My MIL was always a bit shocked at how dirty I let them get. |

Hi Sal....funny you should say that..as I feel in a weird, but good mood this morning...NOt sure why..have been through all possible reasons why...but it came to me in the woods this morning....I got lost down a track I had never been down before....and couldnt find a way out except going back....I never go back!!!..I always have to walk round....I know that sounds crazy..(some may say I am)...I know Expat is the same...I dont know why but it seems to go against the grain...anyway...I had no choice I had to go back...and do you know it was great..nothing happened and I lived to tell the tale..Thus proving we are all incontrol of our destinys.(obviously there is alittle bit more to it than just that)....and unless you know the full story re me..then all this will have you thinking Cuckoo!!....Well yes I was for a while....but am coming back into this world again and all is fine..... Oh and for the record...I dont really do a rain dance.... Not completely Gaga..not yet anyway!!!..xXx |

Mrs Ding Do I take it that you don't often have good weather when you go on holiday, because we don't either, and we're away next week too. ![]() We're off down to the south west and from what I've heard the weather isn't particularly brilliant there at the moment. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the glorious sunshine we've had in my part of Cheshire for the last few days will work it's way down south but I'm not holding my breath. Having said that, I don't really mind what the weather is like as long as it doesn't pour with rain during the day - I don't share Duffy's enthusiasm for walking when it's wet

Well, I am probably the only person on the forum who is DESPERATE for rain! We haven't had any for months. Our supplies are 30% of what they should be (countrywide)and this summer is going to be desperate. We are now only getting a little water every three days and frequently other summers we have none for 2 weeks and then have to order tankers. We never leave taps running, have litre water bottles in our cisterns, water the garden with washing up water etc etc Yes I would be thankful for some rain! Damlaya Damlaya yok olur....Drop by Drop it Disappears! |

Hello there Magwii. I know I for one don't fully appreciate the water we have here in the UK. I pay the water bills without to much thought to those like you who have no rain and have to be careful with every drop and cup of water they use. According to UK research if you forget to turn the tap off properly, after say washing your hands, if left it will waste 30 drops of water per minute and 380 litres (84 gallons) per month - this equates to 4,600 litres (1,008 gallons) per year!
