Re: Have you raised money for Breast Cancer Care?

Hi
I am Pat Baggott aged 52 and I live in South Devon.
I have raised money for the Ribbon Walk which took place in Blenheim Palace yesterday.

So far I have raised £260.00.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer last July and I have had so much support simply from logging onto the Breast Cancer care Web site and e chatting with others in a similar situation that I really wanted to do something in return.

Back when I signed up to do the walk it seemed a real impossibility ~ I was in the middle of chemo and feeling pretty rough, but the ribbon walk gave me something to aim for.
I kept thinking that by 31st May I will be okay and I will be able celebrate ~ and I was!

What now? Well I am thinking of doing the London to Paris cycle ride in June 2009 to raise funds for the Primrose Unit at Derriford hospital where I was given first class treatment and support.

Onward and upward!

(I don't know how to attach a photo, but have got a couple if you want them)

Pat

Pat

Congratulations, what an achievement. I too was at the walk and I am sorry our group did not get to meet you. Good luck with your fundraising for your next venture and keep us up to date with your progress.

Well done Pat. I did the race for life a couple of years ago and was amazed at the turnout. I have PM'd you. You'll see a little flashing envelope at the top when you log on.

Re: Have you raised money for Breast Cancer Care?

Hi I did the London Moon Walk this year 17th May 26.2 miles a fantastic achievement as I am 51 and less than a year ago I had, had a growth removed from my bowel. My Mother and aunt have both had breast cancer and are still here today. Its a brillant night 17,000 people walked it, of which 1,000 were men. I trained for 3 months before and I ached for a few days after, but it was worth it as I raised £1063.26 for BREAST CANCER. I have registered for next year so come January 09 will be back training again, it took me 7.75 hours.

Re: Have you raised money for Breast Cancer Care?

Hi I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in January 2006. I received fantastic surgery, care and support and was keen to pay something back. The Haddon Hall 10 mile Ribbon Walk was the inspiration I needed to get myself fit! Despite the grotty weather I thoroughly enjoyed doing the walk. My sister-in-law and I raised approximately £550 for Breast Cancer Care through this event.
Two days later we held a sponsored walk at the school where I work school. Through this we raised a lot of money for our local Breast Care Unit. I felt remarkably fit and felt that my life was 'back on track.' This didn't last long though. The next day my achilles tendon ruptured. I underwent surgery to repair the tendon and I am now on another long road to recovery!! I am only glad that I was able to enjoy the walking and raise the money to help others facing breast cancer before my injury stopped me in my tracks.

Re: Have you raised money for Breast Cancer Care?

Yes, I've done the Race for Life twice now and found it a marvellous experience. There were over 2000 people on our Race days. I raised over £500 and felt so proud to be helping people with cancer. I've lost 2 dear friends to cancer and my best friend had breast cancer 5 years ago. She's fine now and I cherish my time with her these days.
We need to keep the good work up.

Re: Have you raised money for Breast Cancer Care?

I would be interested in walking for Cancer Research or something similar in my area of Cardiff. I feel it is through reseach that this dreadful disease will be finally conquered. I had bowell cancer three years ago and I value each day and appreciate life much more than previously. Very well done to all you wonderful women who have raised money for Breast cancer and the other cancer charities so far.

Re: Have you raised money for Breast Cancer Care?

Hello I and some friends have done many balls for Breast Cancer Care we raised a few thousand pounds in total.
I had the idea with a friend but she has since died at age 47 We continued with the balls for a few years with friends and her sister and family,
We have now not done one for 2 years because the friend who did all the admin has not been at all well so it has been difficult. I have had breast cancer and many friends and my mother died of it.
