If you can afford it always go to the hairdressers for a colour, some people are really on the ball and can do it themselves at home, but I speak from experience.
I used to colour mine years ago and found that there was such a layering of different colours, when I eventually went to have it done professionally, the hairdressers couldnt believe it.
