I have just joined, although, i have been lurking for a bit reading your posts and am really impressed with the support you give to each other and all your advice and expertise . So i wondered if you can advise me on my weird hair? It has gone a bit weird in the past year or so - it has always been wavy and kinky and now it seems to have gone more curly - which i like but i'm not used to it and don't know how to manage it- i've even had people asking if i've had a perm. I'm 57 and perhaps its the aging process. does anyone else have this problem??

I have been trying to grow it longer over the summer as my last visit to a hair salon in June left we really p*****d off as he had cut it short on top and layered it - i suppose what he was trying to do was accentuate the curlyness. I went back and complained and he cut the back shorter so that the top wasn't such a contrast to the sides. But the overall effect is that it sticks up on top like a pair of horns and it looks very rectangular and seems to make my face look longer (its 2 inches below my ears).

I have made an appointment for 2 weeks from now with a really good hairdresser that i found through a friend and i am wondering what i should ask him to do - i want to accentuate the curlyness but i don't want any layers on top and my fringe drives me mad as it can be quite heavy and increase the overall rectangular look.
