Wide leg trousers in a dark colour with a choice of comfortable shoes or boots for day and heels for the evening. A cashmere jumper ( Tesco do good priced ones) in a pastel shade for shopping to go under your coat and a silky top in a jewel colour to team with the trousers for evening, perhaps with belt to bring it all together.

Alternatively wear a skirt suit during the day with boots and put a silky blouse under the jacket for the evening and team with shoes
