Hi beachbabe - it must be awful for you feeling so out of control - I know how thyroid problems can affect weight SIL had his thyroid removed and is really struggling with his ever increasing weight in spite of medication. Hopefully your new medication will help.
Keep posting if it makes you feel better - it does you good to off load from time to time. I know you are the only one who can do anything about it but that doesn't make it any easier for you does it.
