Whitleybay....... oh it is nice to see someone else like me. I bought one before xmas (on advice of coronary nurse) as I need to record my steps and let them know when I start my rehab excercise prog next week. I had to aim for between 7000-10000 a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like you I was astounded to see how little I do move about and it certianly brought me up sharp. Now I know I have to get mobile more and more otherwise I am in big trouble with my heart. Yesterday I was on the go 80% of the day doing my "daily/weekly job schedule" that I set up and at bedtime had just made it to 5000!!!!!!!! YYYYYYYIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPEEEE Now I have to find out how to increase it by a further 2500-5000. Hoped to be able to walk dog 3 times a week but me and ice/snow don't go together. One look at it and one step on it and I can guarantee you that my bum and the snow merge together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus I have to be careful to cover practically my whole face so I am only breathing in warm air!!!!! I have the answer though...........a treadmill at home!! This way I can use it and watch my Westlife DVD and get really hot under the collar!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I have to convince OH that it is a health necessity and well worth spending the money on!!! Keep up the good work and I hope to see you posting that you have achieved your 10000 steps very soon.. Let me know how you are doing. |
