Hi Having been laid up all week with a horrible cold I sympathise (I can also sympathise with the arthroscopy but that was a good few years ago!). The other morning while wrapped up in a blanket watching day time TV, I came across a very short programme which had a doctor telling do's and don'ts of a cold. He had some bizarre advice for when you first feel the effects coming on which are strange but you can see the sense - they may help: 1/ the virus will sit at the back of your throat so hold a hairdryer at arms length on warm (not hot) and try and breathe the hot air - aparantly helps kill the germs! 2/ before bed, rinse out some cotton socks in cold water, soak your feet in warm water then put on the cold wet socks ( ) put nice dry wooly ones over the wet ones - seems it forces the body to speed up circulation which in turn speeds up the virus so you'll get rid of your cold earlier!Bit late for me as mine was in full flow with abarking cough but you might catch it in time - Good luck |
