I think some people are just very selfish and don't realise the hurt involved. My MIL never asks my OH how he is , has never shown any interest in him or us as a couple , pours scorn on our relationship to us and anyone she meets.

Some people are quick to take advantage of others as well. There are some genuine people out there , sometimes its hard to find them.
