The Pilot's wife was the first novel I read by Anita Shreve, and I enjoyed it but preferred Fortune's Rocks and All He Ever Wanted... I thought the way she depicted love and obsession was very convincing. If you like Anita Shreve's writing, you must read Sue Gee... the English equivalent and better, I think. A bit more quirky in some respects, with the occasional eccentric English character. My favourite is Earth and Heaven, and The Mysteries of Glass is also very good. She is not as widely known as she should be and I recommend her to everybody! Mags |
