I have to agree with Jane2008 - I would HATE to work for the same company as my OH. Loads of good reasons why this is a bad idea but a main one being what if the company closed? You would both be out of work.
Also, speaking as one who is involved in recruitment, your OH putting a good word for you is a definate no-no.
If this job is ideal for you and you for it then you should take it into your own hands and then just let OH know when you have been successful.
