Hello everyone - can't believe I'm the first today. I hope everyone is having a good, positive day.
Linby, I hope you are feeling better today.
My "shall I" dilemma is - I'm a bit of a shopaholic where clothes shopping is concerned (High Street, not designer), but I told myself I would not buy ANY new clothes until I lost the weight I wanted to. BUT I have lost 10 lbs (thrice wow!!!) since I started FF and I'm going on holiday at the end of next week, so do you think I should allow myself a teeny look round Dorothy Perkins etc? Or bearing the credit crunch in mind, should I recycle my old wardrobe? Haven't dared try on those "chocolate" chinos yet!

Thanks for giving me the go ahead, Anne. If - and it's a big IF - I get into those chinos it will definitely be a Harry met Sally moment! LOL

I think part of being a flabuless forumer is getting back that pride in appearance that some of us tend to lose with weight gain - so go for it Ally L - look stunning and you will feel motivated to keep on track!
I am having a better day today - partly because I am feeling better, but also I was shocked to see the middle bit of middle aged spread returning... So, every time I think I'd like something to eat, I ask myself - what would I rather have - food or a slimmer waist? If I'm really hungry, the answer is food, but if I'm not, then the slimmer waist wins!

Hi chickadee - I'm glad to hear you are having a better day. Whenever I think about food I do find that asking myself a question - usually "are you actually hungry?" - really helps me keep on track; so the choice of "slimmer waist" sounds very motivating. You are so right about regaining pride in appearance, so I'm going to flaunt my newly emerging waist instead of hiding it away!

Good afternoon Ally, anne, chick and everyone else, sorry I havent been on the threads much over the last few days, Tonight is my last night of 4, so Ive been sleeping and working, sleeping and working mostly, Ill be glad when tomorrow morning comes, Im knackered!
Ally I had this exact same dilemma when it came to my first holiday, and I too asked the same question to the girls, and their advice is just the same as yours, a definite YES, YES, YES!!
You deserve a few bits and pieces for your hols, you dont have to go over board, because you are still losing weight, but I say, enjoy every minute of it, buying new thinner clothes is a huge boost, well done!, but we will demand photos by the way!!, let us know about the chinos!
Chick Im so glad you are feeling a little better at last, I think your spot on, the good part of this system is it makes you more a ware of the danger signs, so you can get on top of things again before it gets out of hand.
Ive lost 16 lbs in all since we started, Im down to 10st, my aim now is to be 9st something, Ive not been that weight in 10 years, so it will be a huge achievement for me. But I am really looking forward to the weeks ahead now, I know we can do it!

Hi everyone
Go for it AllyL and buy yourself some new clothes for your holidays: a) you deserve them, b) you don't have to spend very much money these days to look nice - check out supermarkets and matalan etc.
Remember you don't need to buy clothes that last because they will be Too Big Soon Anyway.
Anne1005 is right - Definately try on those Chino's you will be surprised.
Chickadee, Glad today is a better one, stay positive
Mjm, have a lazy day tomorrow, you deserve it and congratularions on the 16 pounds - I hope one day I can say that too.
xx

Hi everyone. Only joined you all yesterday, but am appreciating the company already. Ally, me signing up for these forums was part of my steps to improving how I look. The other was buying some new clothes and that's before I even start losing weight! I was feeing fat and dowdy - think I might as well be fat and well dressed, I am more motivated when I feel better. I am a size sixteen just now, and only 5' 3" so really need to get myself sorted. I also agree about the supermarkets - I like Asda's Moda range, and I can look better for a few weeks and when I lose weight treat myself to something new again. Cheers chickadee, glad your feeling better - you made me feel better yesterday.

AllyL, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one or two new things for your holiday. Treat it as a reward. Also bear in mind, that you need to lose a lot of weight before clothes look bad on you because they are too big. Sometimes they continue to look better as you slim down!
I could do with some new jumpers/tops suitable for this cooler weather. At least they are usually stretchy so will slim with me.
Anne18, I'm even shorter than you. We're not fat, we're just short for our weight!

Sella_Vee you are right - I don't look so fat in high heels! Can't walk, but don't look so fat. So there is another incentive. Lose weight and I can wear comfy wee pumps.

Good evening girls - your resounding yesses have convinced me to go shopping! Gilley - great tip, my D picks up some great clothes at Tesco, so might have a look there.
I'm going to Normandy,SL but don't think the weather will be that great, so I'm thinking of jumpers and tops like Sella_Vee. I actually like autumn/winter clothes almost better than summer ones, you can layer things and wear nice scarves etc. I got a little trench coat in Debenhams in May - only £25, which I've been wearing a lot recently. It's a 12 (must be a big 12!), and now looks much better belted than it did when I got it! I feel like Michelle from the Resistance in Allo Allo (oops showing my age there)
mjm - well done! 16 lbs,a WOW for you! You must feel great. I'm aiming at 9 stone something as well, and it must be 10 years since I weighed that too! Enjoy your day tomorrow! Hugs to you all - catch you tomorrow.
anne18 - I feel much slimmer in heels too - I'm only 5'4"!
