DAY 46, Little By Little.
      #115255 - 15/05/2008 09:14

Good morning girls, Have just got home after work and I am nacked!, the weather isnt great either, so I am glad Im going to bed.

Thanks for your feed back yesterday, I think a lot of us are finding its slow to shift the weight, but are enjoying being back in control of food again , instead of it being the other way round.

When you improve a little each day, eventually big things happen. If you improve your eating habbits a little each day, eventually you will have a big improvement, not tomorrow, or the next day but eventually a big gain is made.

Dont look for the big, quick improvement, look for the small steps one day at a time, thats the only way it happens- and when it does happen, it lasts!

What are the 3 smallest changes you could make that are liable to make the biggest difference, and help you through to the end of this programme?

The little steps really do make the biggest difference in time.

Good luck for today girls, keep with it, because together, we can achieve anything!!

Well said mjm, personally I would love a big weight loss but I am just so happy the weight is going down, but mostly I am happy because I no longer eat diet food that has little taste, leaves me hungry and is full of additives!, which just compounds my cravings.

When my husband got home last week, he said I looked really healthy, but over the last few days he says there is a much bigger change, my mood is more stable and in myself I appear much happier. I dont spend ages deciding what to wear and then get depressed just as we are about to go out because I am not happy with what I see in the mirror. And he is right, my mood swings have lessened and I feel more in control of all aspects of my life whereas before because I was so focused on diets that never worked, I was permantly miserable.

Valaber, I hope you are feeling better today, its horrible when you feel poorly, but hey what a star, you did not buy the cake, well done you. Have a big pat on the back.

I had my blood pressure checked this morning. It's still on the high side (130/90 although sitting in the waiting room with lots of coughing and sneezing must raise it a little) but is better than it's been for a long time. Also I'm only 500g heavier than I was 6 months ago (I was wearing boots and a sweater this morning!). Previously my weight has been sneaking upwards each time and my blood pressure's been around the 145 mark. Something's doing me a lot of good and I think I know what it is

I've actually started looking in the mirror and liking what I see - I take more care in deciding what to wear rather than grabbing the first thing that fits. We're half way to a new life and it's looking good.

Thats great news ChristinaB, you must be feeling very proud of yourself. I know what you mean about the mirror, finally I have started to think that mostly i look OK whereas before I just got depressed.

Well done everyone - and thanks for the good wishes. I still feel well under par, but have been for some acupuncture, s hopefully will feel a bit bettter in a day or two.

I walked past Thornton's today and as I wasn't feeling well, gave myself permission to go in and buy a little something; I thought about it and decided that actually, thank you very much, I didn't want anything. That feels great, doesn't it.

I know we have to be patient about the weight loss - and that a pound a week would be well over 3 stone in a year, but sometimes it's hard to feel patient! And unfortunately, I suspect the little thing I could do would be to give up wine - I have cut down on the number of glasses; perhaps now I'll start using a smaller glass!

Glad to hear you are a little better Valaber, hopefully you will be back to better form soon.
I get your meaning, sadly I feel I am going to have to use shot glasses! I did say I would have a glass per night but some nights I dont feel like it and then other nights I have a bit of a blip. I wonder if they do stop wineing patches they way they do stop smoking patches??

That would be cool! (Except that like the addicted smoker, I don't really want to stop!)

Hey Honeyb, I'm so glad your OH noticed the difference - must have been a lovely homecoming present for you both!

No I dont want to stop either, a glass of a nice red is one of my greatest pleasures.

I was really pleased when OH noticed the difference. I explained all about the forum and showed him some of the posts, he was very impressed with the support everyone gets from what are, really, total strangers, except that no one feels like a stranger, just friends that I cant quite put a face too. ( But then I often hear my family talking about people I know and I cant quite put a face to them either!! So that is no great problem for me, My OH laughs and calls it my fuzzy world, but I like my fuzzy world, there are no sharp edges and its all sort of soft and squidgy)

I can hardly believe we are now more than half way through. If we still have weight to lose at the end can we start all over again?

I think, like valaber, that I am in the second category that was mentioned yesterday and I agree that giving up wine would be one of my changes that would help. So would doing more exercise and finally eating more fruit and vegetables. I've been very busy lateley and not eating as well as I should be, although the good news is I'm not bingeing either. Exercise wise I'm sort of running in order to stand still, and I don't think that counts. I hope to catch up with myself soon. Keep up the good work girls.

I was thinking of three little changes i need to make ,
1. stop picking I am a picker, but I seem to have that under control even without thinking about it.
2. Less wine because I eat more when I drink
3. eat slowly still finding that hard.

keep going girls

Hello mjm
I am reading a lot about all this weight you ladies are losing, but please tell me what diet you are all on. I am desperate to lose - a lot - an awful lot.
Please tell me what you are all doing. Not able to do a lot of walking because I have arthritis in knees and hips - not helped by being a lot overweight. BUT, I will go walking when I think I ought to go.
