Before buying a De Dietrich oven, read this!!
      #93301 - 11/04/2008 06:20

Does any one else have a De Dietrich oven? If you are thinking of buying one, read this first.

I have one and the part which controls the oven temperature has broken. So I phoned to explain and book a repair man. I was told that De D. order the part beforehand so the repair man doesn't make a wasted journey. So the part was ordered (and paid for).

The repairman turned up without the part and now we have been told that the panel has to be removed and taken away to be repaired. This will mean another visit to remove the panel and I will be unable to use my oven for a week and will have to have another visit to refit the panel. The slot I was given for the repair visit for between 8.00-1.00pm and the man arrived at 1.19pm.

I am currently waiting for a phone call from someone who is supposedly going to "sort everything out" for me. I would NEVER have another De D. oven!!

I have had Smeg and Neff ovens and have not been happy with how they worked. Mind you I never used their own engineers as we found an electrician who could repair them.

I've had a De Dietrich range cooker for over 5 years (it was in the house when we moved in). Never had any trouble with it all - YET! You've made me nervous now.

For this very reason my OH and I decided to have B.G's appliance care package. Now if we get a problem the engineer is here within 2 days and repaired within three. We are not new to this either, have had it for quite a few years but will admit to being suspectible first, but they have been as good as their word.

I have a de dietrich oven. The knobs have broken twice now. They are easy to remove with thin nosed pliers. A new knob can be ordered from Stellisons Spares in Essex. It just pushes in. No need to take front of oven off. Excellent service. Just quote model number of oven. PM me for phone number.

Hi Loo
Thanks for your message.

An update on the situation!
Please bear in mind that we first rang De D. on 23 March 2008 and the date today is 11 May 2008. We are still without a working oven, our oven is no longer produced so the part was removed over 3 weeks ago and has been sent to De D.

I phoned on Friday and the part has now reached De D. and is being repaired. They are unable to give me any idea of how long it will be before it is repaired or indeed whether it is possible to repair the part. I just have to wait. I have made several phone calls but no-one has contacted me.

I will NEVER buy any De D product again! The customer service has been dire. Please read this post and learn!
