Most mornings it is OK, but as the day progressses it gets slower and slower, and at last I just give up!!!! Being away a lot now during the day, because of the shop my friends and I are setting up, I can only be on a short while in the morning, and then on my return late afternoon and evening...... But HEY!, who wants to spent the evening WAITING for things to happen??? Posting anything takes ages!! So, out of frustration I disappear and switch the computer off!!
Sooooo, WHEN can we have the forum working 24hrs round the clock as it did before??? It once WAS normal speed!!!

I couldn't get on the forum yesterday, so I had to do the ironing! Now that can't be right can it?

The forum does seem to be working well today, so perhaps you've fixed it?

Rosey,

At least you had a read receipt, I have sent a pp to Pippa Jackson and the Editor, about another matter, and havent had an acknowledgement of any kind. I am getting so fed up with the slowness of the site, I dont think they would care if anyone left the forum, there are always people who are prepared to put up with it.

What message do they think this gives us, the readers that they cant even give us the time to acknowledge problems we have. Trying to ring them is another story, all you get are voice mail, and answer machines. Its just not good enough in my opinion.

Plasmo

Why do some people get this problem and others not? My computer was working very quickly whilst I was on the forum and then a message flashed on the side to say that it was doing a "scan" - then the forum slowed right down. After about half an hour it picked up again. Is it the computer, or is it the forum which is slow?

I agree with Floozie. I'm registered here now almost a year and this has happened before but since coming back from holidays I am struggling to read all the posts and keep up to date. And when I do get the time, the forum is so slow I give up and just use the pms.
Maybe this is why I no longer see some of the original members posting lately. Can W&H sort out this problem please? I for one am getting bored watching the screen frozen for minutes at a time.

Ditto!
I haven't been on muchover the past week, becuase the stuttering and stammering of flicking through the pages drives me NUTS!!!!!!!!!!
i'm with all of you, can't understand why W&H won't sort it, once and for all, esp. when they make such a big deal of talking about it, profiling Forum members in the magazine.
I bet they wouldn't print a quote from someone being profiled, if they mentioned a slow website, would they?!!!

Hi Ladies, I thought you might like to know that the cause for slowness could be that your computer memory is not big enough and this is such a big site - that bloody sure advert takes up most of it).
I have just had my memory (computer not mine unfortunately) increased (under £40)and wow what a differance, I can flick through pages like reading a book and its not just this site - the differance is amazing

There are so many of us having problems with the slowness, that it can't all be down to our own computers. According to the mag, it's to do with their server... interesting to note that it is not so bad at weekends. I don't normally come on after Friday until the following week, but came on last Sunday, and again today, and noticed it was quicker to respond. So could it be that their server is inadequate? That it simply can't cope with the volume of users? I have complained in writing to the web editor, editorial director of the magazine, and anyone else I thought might have some clout/input also got a copy. We all need to protest, a concerted effort ... as I have said before. In my letter I pointed out the same as Plasmo says in the second para of her thread, about not listening to us, the readers... thought maybe being a bit confrontational might evoke something... but no, like emails beforehand, it has gone unacknowledged, so rude. No wonder many of the forum-ers have said they felt inconsequential, as if we didn't count, when, after all, if it weren't for us, for the readers, they'd not have the successful magazine they have. The little man often gets overlooked, but if lots of little men get together and with one voice complain, then maybe that has more of an effect?

Gothfairy has made so many good points, I wont elaborate, only to say that a minute ago, I was just about to log off from the forum, when it looked just like a snow storm on my screen. Fortunately, I switched off, and then immediately logged on again onto the forum and it was fine.

What could be the explanation for that?
