Would you choose to marry the same person today?
      #182754 - 31/08/2008 15:00

Would you still choose to marry the same person?

My husband of 29yrs died nine years ago...awful time, just terrible.

But now I am married to a man I fell in love with, as if I was fifteen again. We have been married just over a year.We started living together four years ago after we had know each other for only four months.I just knew it was right, and I would choose him from all men.
Oh, and I appreciate what I've found every day.

Oh Kate,
That is such a heartwarming post, congratulations on finding your new man, enjoy and be happy.
In answer to your question, I don't know, sometimes I would probably say no it did not really work out out as I imagined it would, however other times I am content and happy with my man (not today though) good luck anyway.

Kate,

It is so lovely to hear of your personal story, and how it has ended so happily after such sadness, it really warms the cockles of my heart.

You sound so very happy now Kate, and I really hope you continue to do so.

I am really fortunate, as you know Kate, we have been married for a long time, and I would certainly marry the same person today, he is everything I ever wanted in a husband and more.

Plasmo xx

yep, he is a pest, untidy and no fashion clothes horse but he has COPD for the last 3 years and this certainly sorts out the fainthearted but after 29 years together he is still the one for me

Hi Kate

After a fateful start to my experience in married life,to end up third time lucky is beyond my wildest dreams. but,it is for me so YES! YES! YES! YES! like you I felt like a fifteen year old all over again and ten years later the feeling hasn't gone.

I love looking out the window when my OH is due home, see his van coming up the road, turn the kettle on and look out of the window again. Everytime he pulls up I think to myself 'that's my man, by crikey I'm lucky'

Sounds daft but that's what true love does to you.

OOOoh La La, Spanish Lady!!

Plasmo I'm with you, I'm 34 yrs married and we've had the usual ups and downs, and I could have run away sometimes when things got tough, but am so glad I didn't.
He's not perfect by any means, but then neither am I by a long shot.
But he's worked hard all his life, he's honest, faithful, a good father, got a sense of humour (when I just told him lots of people were ill on the forum, he said had they got a computer virus and laughed his silly head off!)and he's kind.
Sometimes he doesn't listen like I'd like him to, sometimes he is wrapped up in his own stuff, sometimes I wished he take more interest in what I like.
But I'm happy, content, chilled and pleased to be spending the rest of my life with him.

All those wasted years with my Ex-husband, pretending to be the perfect family. But then, I would never have had my wonderful children.

Marrying the current OH - no regrets at all

Yes. I'd known him for at least 7 years before we got together. There have been good days and bad days but my kife's richer for being with him.

(must answer this question as well as the previous OH one)
( lovely to hear of your happy 2nd marriage, Kate)
Of course I would marry 2nd OH- still think he's perfect after almost 18 years!
But wish I'd just 'lived with' 1st husband (mum would have had a fit!) Would have been much easier to get out of.
