My baby has gone!!!
      #171105 - 18/08/2008 08:49

Miss Aber has left me...on a bus to Poland. She's gone with a group of 160 young singers and musicians on an orchestra and choir tour of Poland for 12 days

I've been quite looking forward to the freedom, but as the bus pulled out this morning I had, not butterflies, but elephants churning in my stomach and a huge lump in my throat! think I'm going to miss her loads!

Hi Val

What a proud Mum you must be. Your D off on a tour, not a single date, but a tour.

I'm sure she will miss you to,but think of the experience that will be gained by doing something such as this.

I hope she has a wonderful time, and returns with many happy memories to share with you.

Love

Annemari x

Hi Val

Know how you feel but she'll have a great time, loads of life experience with her friends. She'll have fond memories of her tour I'm sure.

They grow up so quickly, don't they?

Val, what a wonderful experience for her! You must be so proud. Do you have plenty planned to keep yourself busy while she's away? Perhaps organising a treat for when she returns to say how proud you are of her?

Hi Val
I know how you feel my son is an air cadet and yesterday he went off to Belgium with some of his flight to do a march with the Belgium army it is over 4 days and they will march 80 kilometers I look at him and feel so proud he is the smallest and youngest cadet ever to do this he is 15.This morning I was thinking about him and I rememberd when he was only about 8 he told me he would do this one day I had forgotten that.I can't tell him how proud I feel without tears in my eyes.

Valaber thats wonderful, how proud you must be. But know what feelings you are having. I took my son to Chichester to start a foundation course, and left him in this bedsit, looking very forlorn and alone. I have to admit to piping a tear as we drove off. BUT he is now 31 and a qualified Accountant and also has a Manufacturing Engineering Degree so don't know what I was worrying about.!!!! She'll be fine and come back all the better for it, maturer and an even lovelier daughter, you'll see.
Try and fill your time while she is gone, keep busy. Snowy x

Thanks everyone - yes I am proud of her and I am going to enjoy my "holiday" - even though I have to do some work.

Eliza, you must be very proud of your son too - 80k over 4 days is a huge achievement - more than Duke of Edinburgh Gold, I think! I hope he has a wonderful time - and remembers to change his socks!

Thanks Mayday - have PM'd you.

Summer, I don't think your children ever leave - I've spent most of today dealing with one or other son - they're 26 and 24; neither of them lives at home, but they still seem to need me, sometimes anyway!

That sounds super for her valaber what a clever D you have!

I'm empty nesting today as my 18 year old baby went off last night to his first lad's holiday up in Norfolk. I have texted him to make sure he got there OK but surprise, surprise no reply!

I'm still recovering from being ribbed all weekend by H & D about fussing over how many pairs of pants and socks he's taken, whether he has packed clean PJ's, a warm jumper etc.

It only seems 5 minutes since he was learning to walk...

Hi Val

Hope you are enjoying your little 'holiday' and that your daughter has a wonderful time - it sounds as if it will be a terrific experience for her. Lucky girl! You're right, they never really leave home for long and keep popping back - which is just the way I love it!

My elder daughter got married last month and has just been given a puppy by her husband (it was planned!) and I'm looking after it for a couple of days while she is away. So if it's not babies or children, it is now a puppy to take care of! It is absolutely gorgeous though!

Hi Val,

You will miss her, but you will have some well earned me time, doing what you want to do, when you want to do it, just think of the great experience this whole trip will bring to her.

It wont be too long and she will be back home.

Plasmo x

Hi Val
Congratulations to Miss Alber! It sounds like she will have a wonderful time. I can remember Miss F going to work in Hungary for six months when she was 18. I was hiding in the duty free at Heathrow trying not too cry!!

She had a great time, came back in one piece (and to the dismay of all the doubters!!!) did not marry a Hungarian or decide not to go to Uni.

Miss Alber has found her wings and is flying high!

Hi Val. Everyone says it all, I know just how you feel, but you know that this is the best way to see our children move on - by spreading their wings and doing all the exciting things we maybe did not get a chance to do. x x

After 5 weeks with us they have gone home again. It is 6,500 miles to Kyoto in Japan and I'm also feeling it. Fancy a coffee? (Or something stronger?) Give me a ring

Hi Val,

I only just came across this thread. What a brilliant opportunity for Miss Aber, I bet she will have the time of her life.

How are you doing???? Has Miss Aber given you a list of do's and don'ts while she is away??? For example,

Don't worry
Have fun
Clean up the mess before she gets home
Have an empty washing basket so she can fill it when she gets back
Her room spic and span

I hope you aren't worring too much.....chill Val, she is fine

perry
