Ruby wedding gifts
      #149316 - 15/07/2008 02:35

Help !! Going to a ruby wedding soon where the couple have asked guests not to bother with gifts. Not sure if i want to turn up presentless but can't think of something that a modern type couple would like. Any ideas ?

If they like gardening, a good stand by is a ruby rose. Did this for my parents-in-law.

Hi Meg01. I too am attending a Ruby Wedding party in a few weeks and they too have asked that we take no gifts. However they support a local charity and have asked that anyone wishing to donate may do so which I think is a lovely idea. Perhaps your friends may also appreciate you supporting a charity close to their hearts.

We did charity donations when we got married 3 years ago. If your friends have said "No gifts" then I would respect their wishes and ask if you can make a donation instead. TBH, there are only so many vases and photo frames one house can take!

This link takes you to an organisation that lets you choose the amount but lets your friends choose which charity they want to donate the money to. They can choose virtually any charity so long as it has charity status - including local ones - so not just the big nationals!

hope the link works!

Many thanks for the replies - the donation to a charity sounds great and was something that i hadn't thought of. If not a ruby rose sounds lovely especially as they have just had bit of a makeover to their back garden - thanks again for the ideas

It's my Ruby anniversary next year and we're definitely saying no gifts -don't want countless things for the home as we are de-cluttering! Will suggest donation for charity and will have a box available (breast cancer in my case as it has affected a sister and 2 cousins, and several friends) and say if thy HAVE to bring something make it red and in a bottle so can toast them everytime we enjoy our glass of wine!!
