As some of your know, I married a widower when I was 40 years old. I hadn't been married before and suddenly I was a stop at home full time mum of 2!! They were just 4 and 7 at the time and VERY keen that dad and I married ( I had met the children 1st )..
Well, as my previous posts indicate - the marriage has been and remains a tough challenge
BUT
the kids remain a delight!! Last week our daughter passed her Art Foundation Course with a Merit & has a place at the Uni of her choice for Sept. The yesterday our son found out that he had achieved a 1st class Honours Degree in Psychology.
I am sooooooooooooo pleased for him.. He has always found academic life a breeze and so has never really had to set himself a challenge. However last November ( after 2 and a bit years at uni partying !! ) he decided he wants to be a psychiatrist - that would mean getting a 2:1 degree or preferably a 1st. He will then spend this year at home and then go onto a 5years of medical training to become a Dr...
Well - we watched him work so hard- he let everyone know what he was aiming for and I thought that was very gutsy..
We are just so pleased for both our kids and so very proud. It's so lovely to see their life plans unfolding..
Having shared my duff family news with you all in the past I decided I would balance it with our celebration!!Hip Hip Hooray!!!!!
with my love
ejane xx
by the way - I am the Jane in the W & H mag this month - you know - the Bluewater thingy...xx

Well done to your wonderful children Jane. I remember you talking about them at Bluewater and you couldn't love them more or be more proud of them if you were their 'real' Mum. They are truly a credit to you as skippy says...... You really are a role model for other step mums...

Fantastic news Jane - and you should feel very proud of yourself, as you have had a hand in both of their successes.
Hope you're celebrating with something fizzy tonight!!!
See you at Covent Garden.

HI Jane, what a lovely post and congratulations to you and your family. You so deserve to feel proud and I'm sure a lot of your kids success is down to you, their mum.
I rushed out today to get the August W & H so that I could see all the lovely pics of you all at Bluwater and I was so disappointed, as I couldn't find it anywhere...July is still on all the shelves. Was so disappointed.

Hi ejane. I'm failrly new to the forums so I hope you don't mind a stranger making comments on your family. You are so right to be so proud, well done. You must be an incredble person as given the ages of the children when you met their dad it must have been tough for them having lost their mum, and they have clearly totally accepted you as their mum. I would love to know your secret. I definately don't have that level of relationship with my step children. Enjoy your celebrations.
