I found this new book by Celia Ahern to be a little too far fetched. I read and quite enjoyed A Place Called Here which was quirky and unusual but this time Celia Ahern hasn't managed to get the balance right between reality and make believe.
The idea is that Joyce has acquired a stranger's memories and feelings through a blood transfusion when she loses her baby and they fall in love after a string of coincidental meetings. However an idea that could have worked if it hadn't been taken to such an extreme falls flat on its face. It is all a little too contrived and you actually couldn't care less what happens to the characters as it becomes so totally unbelievable.

Hi, I love the escapism that Celia Ahern's books offer, even though they are a little too far fetched!!!! I'm in the middle of Thanks for The Memories, and taking it all with a pinch of salt, but still enjoying the story. X

I bought this book to read on holiday and can't say that I like it as much as her other books. Maybe that's because her others are obviously 'fantasy' (as in imaginery friends) whereas this isn't the same idea at all and just seems far fetched - does that make sense? I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say. Ginnie

HI Ginnie
Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I am relieved that someone else feels the same way.
