Has anyone read any Maya Anjelou novels?
      #184651 - 02/09/2008 16:56

I saw this lady on the Oprah Winfrey Show some years ago & was totally blown away by the incredibly spiritual, intelligent & inspirational women who, like Oprah came from very humble & unfortunate circumstances. Her books will inspire you & bring you to tears of sadness & joy.

Yes I have read Dr Maya Angelou. She is truely inspirational. I particularly remember her book entitled I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. She writes with conviction and from personal experience. Her efforts for race equality are well documented and she has received many awards. I would recommend her books to anyone who has not read them. They are powerful and can sometimes be difficult to read as discriptions are vivid and can be harrowing. But her command of language and the poetry of her prose is well worth the effort.

I read 'I know why the caged bird sings' and became hooked. Big fan now.

No I haven't as yet artfulsighs, but have seen her on Oprah many times. Oprah adores her. Maya Angelou has the most melodic voice, you can't help but stop and listen when she is talking. Such an intelligent inspirational women.

Yes, but they aren't novels. She has written her biography in about five volumes and they are both interesting and curious. She glosses over lots of stuff - it's not deep analysis but she does write brilliantly. I've read her poetry too and that's uplifting...

HI there

I have not read any of her books, but also saw her on Oprah Winfrey and have read her poem called Phenomenal Woman. It is worth a read too.
