Lady Audley’s Secret by Mary Elizabeth Braddon Published by Penguin My book club chose this title from a long library list using a pin! And we were not disappointed. All agreed that this book and its author were great finds. Ms Braddon has been described as a ‘leading light of Victorian sensation fiction’. In fact she deals with issues, including insanity and consumerism, which are just as relevant today. The book will particularly appeal to lovers of Wilkie Collins, and nineteenth century crime thrillers. The fine writing style, skilful plot and entertaining characters will keep you engrossed until the very end of the 450+ pages.
