A ten mile walk through the heart of The Black Mountains following Macnamara's Road. This is a grassy track built two hundred years ago by John Macnamara to enable his horse to cross from one valley to another where his mistress lived (The lengths some men will go to........) This walk is suitable for beginners, and is a gentle climb to its highest point overlooking Cwmdu. Dropping down to the valley we will skirt the base of Mynydd Troed and finish in Llangorse village for tea by Llangorse Lake. Fitter members will have the option of extra climbing on this walk . New friends are very welcome and a car sharing scheme is in operation from Cardiff. If you fancy this walk but haven't walked with us yet leave a mesage on this site and one of us will get in touch with more details. We are mixed ages and abilities and all you need is some waterproof clothing and good footwear. Come on ladies, give it a go!

Would love to be with you all, but arthritis and knackered knees severely restrict my walking. However, if you look across from above Cwmdu towards the Blorenge, you'll see me waving to you!

Hi Val
I know a view from Pen Cerrig Calch when I see it! What a shot, thank you. We couldn't have a better advert for the kind of views The Black Mountains give us. So, you aren't up to the walk but would you like to join us for tea at Llangorse? If you send me a phone number as a personal message we could let you know on the day what time we'll be there. Pat

Hello Ladies, can I just tell you about my walk today(April mountain done and dusted Pat),its been a beautiful day and I walked from Beddgelert along the river and up Cwm Buchan over the bwlch and down the other side and back along the river to the ice-cream shop--sorry I mean village.A distance of about six or seven miles with the climb in the middle and the views were stupendous.Thought of you and look forward to seeing you on the fifth.

Hi Charlotte
I just noticed your post on the Book Club forum page and have sent you a PM. When you see a flashing icon at the top of the page next to User Options click on it and you can read the Personal Message (PM). It's a shame you can't make tomorrow but we do walks every fortnight so hopefully you can come to the next one.

Hi I have spoken to one of the ladies going on the walk who has kindly given me directions. I am new to the website and also have not walked 10 miles for a long time - so hope I won't hold you back!. Presumably someone will let me know cost of traansport etc when I meet up with you all. A great idea - and I am looking forward to it (albeit with a little apprehension!)

Nice to meet you Sue. It was our biggest turnout so far and I think we all had a really good time. The weather was warm and dry and the views were wonderful. Thanks to Pat again for organising the walk.

Hi Sue was good to meet you, hope to see you at next walk? Enjoyed the walk, soaked in the bath until wrinkled prune look took over and now have aching thighs. Gentle incline, Pat I love the way you are economical with the truth! I will pinch the Tesco trolley, you are pushing me up next time, by way of punishment.

Any more whining and we won't take you again....... Think of all the calories you used up(The ones on Sue's pedometer not mine) AND the view of heaven from the top of Pen Trumeau. How many wrinkled prunes can claim to have seen that this weekend? Seriously, it was a lovely day. hope you are not too stiff, but no pain no gain, they say.

Great to meet and chat to you all - made the miles go really quickly. Thanks for a lovely day and excellent training session. Mary was hard at it again this morning when she joined me at 6.15am for a quick 6 miles plus the extra 3 she did to get here and back!
