But...... horrible things. They have a rubber coating which your hair gets tangled on, they are heavy, kept falling out, when I finally managed to curl them. So I have thrown them in the cupboard and feel I have wasted £20. Plus I can't get them back into the ridged pouch!

Anyone want to buy them???

I went to get a tinted moisturiser yesterday, the assistant showed me the cream that adapts to your skin tone and gives un protection. It was £36.00. Too much so I looked at the other counters, all were displaying the new BB creams. I used to use just a Boots No 7 tinted moisturiser for the summer (stop laughing we might get one yet), has anyone tried these new creams and are they better than a tinted moisturiser, they are double the the price.? I am over 60 so have mature skin.

What do you think makes us look younger?

What do you think makes us look younger? I ask this question because I see so many people of my age, and younger, (I am 61), who honestly think they...

What do you think makes us look younger? I ask this question because I see so many people of my age, and younger, (I am 61), who honestly think they look younger than they are. To put it in perspective, I frequently give my age where it is asked, and the conversation goes like this:

"How old are you?"
"Sixty-one."
VERY LARGE PAUSE (while I wait for gasps of disbelief)
OK.
BIG SIGH (from me)

So, as you see, I think I look and act younger but there is no fooling my public. I see it all the time. Yesterday, a man whom I took to be nearer my father's age told me that he was incensed when someone asked him if he wanted an oap concession. I could not believe he was my husband's age, but he clearly thought he looked way younger and it makes me realise that we do not always know when we have let go. Which brings me to the question. What does make you look younger? In my opinion it is:

Hair. Younger people have more hair and it still has a recognisable colour to it.

Weight. Younger people are thin. I know there are fatter young people but they still have young faces. I just know that if you look slimmer, you can look younger, especially from a distance.

Clothes. This is a really relevant one. I went to an optician. She was a couple of years younger than me but I think she looked more like my husband's late grandmother because she had a similar hairstyle, lace up shoes and a tweed suit. I was wearing jeans (not my usual attire) and a Karen Millen top. When she read my form she twitched and said that I look very young for my age (did I say she was a lovely person?) and do I think she should grow her hair. Of course I said thank you and yes and only hope that she did.

I really believe that when you know someone their age is irrelevant, but from the point of view of being out and about, and not being invisible, it pays to stay a step ahead.

Good Afternoon Ladies

Well whilst lots of you are enjoying a Bank Holiday weekend, here in Spain it is just a normal weekend. That said, having had a busy week I´m working today to play catch up but just needed a 5 minute break to re-charge the brain cells (it takes longer than ever nowadays!!!).

Whilst showering this morning I noticed that my cellulite is worse this year than ever and wondered if anybody out there knows whether or not it is possible to reduce. I have done a little research and many indicators are that it cannot be but I´m just wondering if, with a change of diet and increase in exercise, if it will diminish a little. I´m not totally vain or anything like that but would just like to look a little better as I get older, especially as a walk on the beach is something I now prefer to do clothed rather than in a bikini - help!!!!

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I'm afraid this disease has now spread from Next to: Debenhams!! Where do we go from here?????
There is NO containing it!! - It is on the loose and spreading to a shop near you!

Before you think I've gone nuts:p - We had a topic recently - discussing how, instead of shop assistants approaching a customer and saying the customary ''Can I help you?''. They now say:

''Are You Alright?'' (usually in a really concerned tone). I keep expecting them to say my dear at the end of it. Luckily that hasn't happened yet. When/if it does, I may not be responsible for my actions!

And we were saying how we feel like replying with some sarky comment.......

Anyway, yesterday, when I was doing my retail therapy in Debenhams, a shop assistant came out with the dreaded (full of concern) ''Are you Alright there?''

I wanted to reply ''Actually, I feel really terrible - I had migraine this morning, now my piles are giving me trouble and my bowels are playing up.......'' but I didn't have the guts.

My daughter has noticed they now say this annoying phrase in the clothes shops where she goes as well, so who knows where it will turn up next:confused:

Just for fun - Where have you heard this phrase recently - and what would be the best comeback?

p.s. I don't really have piles!:o

I was reading a post earlier in the week with regard to Jo Malone being taken over by Estee Lauder. I had no idea it was as long ago as 1999, but she had worked with the company as a consultant until 2006. Beezer put a link on the previous thread for JoLoves.com, which is the new company started up in 2011, with fragrances launched in 2012. Currently an online company offering 8 fragrances. I found this very enlightening particularly as a love the whole ethos of lady creates a global range from kitchen sink, it becomes mega successful, the big boys steam in and she becomes weathly beyond her wildest dreams. We all wish we could be that talented to have that lightbulb moment.
Knowing Jo has fought the breast cancer battle but has risen again and started a new venture is very inspiring. I telephoned the company and spoke with a lovely helpful lady called Michelle who explained that due to high demand, they will send you two complimentary samples, together with the other six fragrances in the range on card testers. This was all sent to my first class post and arrived the following day - yesterday. All beautifully packaged in the new signature colours of red and black.

Pomelo - Crisp & Clean, for fans of the original Grapefruit cologne. Green Orange & Corriander - Soulful & Sassy
Orange Tulle - Fun & Flirty, Gardenia - Rich & Regal. New Pink Vetiver - Spicy & Contemporary. New Mango Collection with three fragrances inspired by cocktails. Michelle explained that a new shop will be opening soon and they will be adding to the range.

To find out more, go to the website and sign up for Jo's updates The Note, which will keep you posted on all the new things happening with the company. What a joy it was to receive the lovely samples and know that Jo is "at it again". Really cheered me up, love it when a plan comes together for someone, as I am not a huge fan of corporate stuff so will really be supporting Jo Loves in the future. It definitely brought me sunshine on a cloudy day xxxx Swanney
