 Nicky's style secrets

The 'Ten Years Younger' presenter reveals her golden rules for looking more youthful

My advice is dress to flatter not to fit in with fashion. Try to not be defined by rules and fashion speak. Experiment with your clothes to develop your own unique signature look.

Clothes
1) Wear clothes that fit you well and give you shape. The older we get, the harder our clothes need to work. Try items which hug your body, moulding lumps and bumps into curves. Anything that helps define your waist is a must.

2) Wear colour next to your face. As we get older, we lose a lot of complexion in our skin. Black and greys draw attention to shadows, lines and wrinkles. Try a colourful necklace, earrings or scarf to boost your complexion.

3) Accessories are really important. The more fashionable you look, the younger you appear. If you don't have the know-how to update season to season, just invest in a key few accessories and incorporate them into your wardrobe.

4) Dress with confidence. People who make an impact have confidence. Think about what you need to do to boost your confidence and go for it or get the expert advice you need to make it happen.

Hair
Your haircut is really important. It can be a real anti-ageing tool. Changing the colour or cut of your hair will make a statement and make you feel like a new woman.

The colour's imperative too. It can really warm up your complexion. You can afford to be adventurous, but only go for home colour if you know what you works for you.

Make-up
Less is more to keep a fresh and youthful complexion. Don't be heavy-handed with the foundation. Use concealer where you need it and apply tinted moisturiser. Avoid products which are too shimmery as they draw attention to your lines and wrinkles. If you have fabulous eyes, make them a feature. Experiment with make-up to learn what works for you.
