TV presenter Fiona Phillips, who is married to This Morning boss Martin Frizell, has hit back at a troll on Twitter, who claimed she 'couldn't stand' working with her ex GMTV co-host Eamonn Holmes.

The pair presented the ITV morning show together from 1997, for a total of nine years - but a troll took to Twitter to claim that the pair didn't get on.

The claim comes as Eamonn and his wife Ruth Langsford are rumoured to be getting the axe from their Friday morning TV slot on This Morning.

The Twitter war started when a fan of Fiona's commented on Eamonn and Fiona's presenting skills and TV 'partnership'.

She said: "For many years I watched these two (Eamonn and Fiona) was so upset when they stopped. I personally would say they were the most brilliant partnership on T.V, they got on brilliantly and it showed."

However, a troll took to the social media site and attempted to squash the fan's idea of their 'brilliant' on-screen chemistry by tweeting: "I think they couldn't stand each other."

The tweet made Fiona, who has been married to This Morning boss Martin Frizell since 1997, see red as she fired back: "Utter b*****ks, but I guess you must know best, being a total stranger whom we’ve never ever set eyes upon, let alone shared confidences with."

The comments seemed to quieten down the troll, and many of her fans came to her aid. While Eamonn also tweeted: "That's my Partner ..... u tell him!"

Fiona, who left GMTV in 2008, for family reasons, has guest presented Lorraine over the years and has also presented Watchdog and an array of documentaries.

The TV personality has two sons Nathaniel, 20, and Mackenzie, 17 with her husband Martin. However, in 2009 Fiona told the Mirror that the 4am starts for GMTV 'nearly wrecked my marriage'.
