Of course people say that once you've learned to ride a bike, you never forget how to do it. But, if you're anything like me, and haven't cycled for years, confidence – or the lack of it – can be an issue.

Worry not as help is at hand from Dorset-based Derek O'Connor and his Pedalling for Pleasure company. He will teach anybody how to cycle properly, confidently and energy-efficiently. He will teach absolute beginners as well as improve the technique of experienced cyclists.

What's more, when you have found your pedal power, he also organises short cycling holidays and guided cycle rides, either in groups or with your family in Wiltshire and Dorset – beautiful, gentle countryside with pretty villages and coastal views.

Now that we are being encouraged for both health and environmental reasons to cycle more, the time has surely come to get on your bike.
