Sex and the City style cocktails

The Sex and the City girls love to meet up and drink girly cocktails. To celebrate the release of the film, we have put together some cocktail recipes fit for Carrie and the girls. Try them out at home with your friends

Cosmopolitan
Carrie's favourite, simply mix vodka in a shaker with a triple sec, such as Cointreau. Add lime, cranberry juice and loads of ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a lime wedge, or dampen the edge of the glass and line the rim with salt and serve.

Champagne cocktail
Well, rather than good Champagne, use an okay dry sparkler. Put a sugar cube into the bottom of a Champagne flute, add a drizzle (1tbsp) of Grand Marnier or Cointreau, some orange zest then top up with the fizz and serve.

Nearly a Bellini
A classic Bellini is usually made with white peach juice and Prosecco, but white peach juice is hard to find in the UK, so use orange peach juice instead and top it up with sparkling wine or Champagne.

Best G&T
Choose an aromatic gin, such as Bombay Sapphire. Take a wedge of lime and run it around the rim of the glass then squeeze the lime juice into the glass and throw in the wedge. Add plenty of ice, then the gin, around 30ml (1fl oz) for a highball glass, and top up with proper tonic, either Schweppes or Fever Tree.

Kir Royale
The classic Kir Royale is made with the blackcurrant liqueur cassis. But you could also try blackberry, raspberry or strawberry liqueur instead.
