Be inspired for your winter coat purchase by Kate Middleton's stylish wardrobe
There is no better inspiration than the Duchess of Cambridge for a winter coat update. With her classic style and keen eye for the latest trends, Kate Middleton has become one of our favourite people to look to for outfit inspiration.
Catherine’s winter coat choices are so chic. Whether she’s dressed in a high street winter coat from Hobbs or a designer winter coat from Diane Von Furstenberg, or even a low-key winter coat from an unknown designer, Kate shows us how to still look stylish in the cold weather.
So take your winter coat inspiration from our favourite photos of the Duchess in her cover-ups here…
Touching down in Cambridge in November 2012, Kate scored more fashion points in a gorgeous pale pink coat by MaxMara. The wool, funnel-neck number was nipped in at the waist with a cute patent bow belt and just covered Kate’s leopard print dress underneath.

There’s nothing like a wardrobe rework and Kate Middleton isn’t afraid to reintroduce old favourites to her occasionwear look. At a Rememberance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in London in November 2012, the Duchess of Cambridge wrapped up warm and remained super-stylish in a traditional double-breasted Diane Von Furstenberg black coat (which Kate wore to 2011’s service). To complete her smart ensemble, she introduced a black wide-brimmed Philip Treacy hat – a sensible choice on a freezing Sunday morning!
Kate Middleton embarked on her first tour of Newcastle alone in October 2012. The Duchess was dressed in a belted, aubergine coat. Clarence House confirmed that her coat is a recycled piece first worn last Christmas. There’s still no word though on the independent dressmaker who designed the piece.
Tapping into the season’s military look, Kate shows how to work a trend without becoming a fashion victim on a trip to St James Park. With a nod to this season’s leather trend, the Duchess’ outfit ticks all the right boxes with her classic Reiss coat.

Kate was a stylish dresser long before Prince William proposed. Ever the supportive partner, she was pictured at his graduation from RAF Cranwell wearing a simple white coat with flat boots back in 2008.
Sporting an emerald green Emilia Wickstead coat dress and matching brown suede accessories, Kate Middleton looked every inch the Irish beauty at the St Patrick’s Day parade in March 2012.
The Duchess joined the Queen and her mother-in-law Camilla, on a visit to British institution, Fortnum and Mason in March 2012. Kate looked ready to embrace spring in a stunning sea blue tweed Missoni coat and Rupert Sanderson heels.

A regular favourite of Kate’s, we’ve seen this Katherine Hooker coat a few times since the Duchess came into the spotlight. First worn in 2006, Kate has regularly worn this coat, right through to 2014.
