Barack and Michelle

We salute Michelle and think she's an amazing role model for young women. But she's also a complete sass machine in the fashion stakes too! Whether it's a formal dinner or a business conference, Mrs Obama knows how to keep her strong sense of self, look professional and still have fun with some killer looks. We think she can do no wrong and so here are her top looks from the past seven years...

As the White House prepares to welcome the Trump family ahead of his inauguration, Michelle made sure to debut one final fashion moment in her current home, posting a video to Twitter of her last walk around the presidential abode with adorable dogs Bo and Sunny in tow. Michelle opted for a pared down look for the video, donning a chic grey striped blouse with flared sleeves from Milly, and a pair of black A-line trousers and black pumps. During the video, the current First Lady made her way through the South Portico side of the first floor, through into the East Room, Green Room, Blue Room and Red Room, with George Washington's portrait in the background. America's First Lady met Queen Letizia of Spain in Madrid earlier this year to promote girls' education in poorer countries and raise awareness of gender inequalities. Michelle opted for a stunning white summer dress from Delpozo for the meeting, where she also addressed around 600 young women, saying: "In countries like Spain and the United States, women are often held to very different standards."

"I'm pleased to say that this year, for the first time in U.S history, we might just elect a female president."

In homage to another famous First Lady, Michelle gave several sartorial nods to Jackie O as she hosted military families at The White House in November 2011, sporting a 60s style collar dress with a bouffant hairdo.

Another winning look here for Michelle in a strapless paisley Naeem Khan dress which she wore to the White House Correspondents Association Dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Washington D.C. in April 2012.

Sashaying in a striking red Jason Wu gown Michelle attended the Commander In-Chief Ball in Washington, D.C. in January 2013 and had all eyes on her all night.

Michelle is still a fashion leader even when she's dressed down. The First Lady chose an oh-so-chic ensemble of a military coat and suede knee high boots to wear to a ceremony honouring veterans in Arlington, Virginia, in November 2013.

Michelle always looks sensational when she's wearing off-the-shoulder and showing off her toned upper body. Here she is a looking incredible in a jade green Marchesa gown at the Kennedy Centers Honor Gala in December 2013.

Pulling out a showstopper for a state dinner in February 2014, Michelle greeted guests in a floor length lacy blue Carolina Herrera frock with a wide puffball skirt and chunky sapphire earrings.

Dressing to host a naming ceremony with Fashion Dame Anna Wintour is no mean feat but Michelle worked the room in this sassy green applique Naeem Khan dress as she cut the ribbon at the Anna Wintour Costume Center Grand Opening at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City in April 2014.

Showing she can go for bolder sartorial choices when she wants to, Michelle looks right at home in this on-trend Missoni dress which she wore to the Milan Expo in June last year.

Michelle turned up the wow factor in a Vera Wang black off-the-shoulder gown at a formal state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Livuan in September last year, no doubt leaving husband Barack hot under the collar!

Last week Michelle looked incredible in a Jason Wu number which she wore to a state dinner in honour of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Washington. We're going to miss those toned arms.
