Christmas market: Christmas Festival at Burghley House

by Henry Ellis on Friday, 15 October 2010

Burghley House, near Stamford in Lincolnshire, is one of England's greatest Elizabethan homes, containing a huge collection of 17th century Italian paintings and stretching over in excess of 2,000 acres of garden and parkland. Usually closed to the public from the end of October, this weekend sees it open its doors for a fantastic Christmas shopping opportunity. Pick up some delicious fare at the fine food market or search for unique gifts among the products on offer from talented British designers at the craft market.

You can also take in the festive flower workshops and cooking demonstrations or just sit back and enjoy the carols in this striking heritage setting.
