The Best Tinted Moisturiser For Your Skin Type

Cast your minds back to a time when base was not the skin-loving saviour it is today, dark days for foundation, not for tinted moisturiser though! A breakthrough product of the 90s, it offered just enough colour to even out skintone without scary tidemarks and hydrating skincare benefits into the bargain. These days between BB. CC and oil-infused foundations we’re lucky to have plenty of options, but brands haven’t forgotten how brilliant tinted moisturiser can be, and neither should you. As well as being easy-peasy to apply and build up, the latest launches are tailored to specific skin types. Oily, dry or somewhere in between? Read on for our guide to the best new tinted moisturisers in town.

1. Bareminerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, £26

Suits you if: You have normal to dry skin, want a juicy, luminous veil of cover and tons of hydration into the bargain. This goes on fairly sheer but can be built up a bit for more cover if you have redness around the nose or chin. You’ll find a decent range of shades for different ethnicities (it’s amazing how rare that is with this type of product) and a bonus SPF30, which will save your future skin in so many ways without you even noticing it’s there.

2. NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint, £30

Suit you if: You have combination or oily skin and previous tinted moisturisers couldn’t compete with your formiddable sebacious glands. Prone to a 12pm shine attack? I’m talking to you. This still has the spreadable texture and soft-focus coverage you’d expert from a tinted moisturiser, but gives a nicely polished matte finish that sticks around. Another gold star for both light and dark shades plus muscular SPF.

3. New CID i-Tint Tinted Moisturiser, £17.40

Suit you if: You have fairly even skin, but might be prone to dullness or the odd dry patch. Despite having a name like something out of Silicone Valley, this is actually a lovely, gentle, botanical affair with antioxidant-packed sunflower, jojoba and mimosa extracts. It gives sheer coverage and reflects light to lend skin an athletic, vigorous gleam without looking shiny. Bounce it on with a Beautyblender for an even healthier glow.
