Woman and home Online Lives: Grace Rhys-Jones
Grace Rhys-Jones, 67, lives in Cardiff with her husband, Phillip, 63. She has three grown-up sons, one stepson and one stepdaughter.
“I read about the Walking Clubs in w&h and went on to the website to find out more.
I was interested in getting more active and regaining my health after being diagnosed and treated for bowel cancer three year ago.
I found a Club near me and arranged to go on their next walk. We started by crossing stepping stones on the River Ogmore.
Some of the walkers were a bit nervous about slipping up, so I was shouting words of encouragement as I hopped across the stones.
All of a sudden, I found myself up to my neck in water! I was so embarrassed, but the experience definitely broke the ice and gave me my forum name, Splash123.
The group has a range of ages, and it’s great to meet people you wouldn’t normally socialise with.
We walk miles each time, which is a huge achievement for me after recovering from cancer.”
