Woman and home online lives: Maureen Mainland

Supper club member, Maureen Mainland, spills the beans on why she joined a w&h supper club

Maureen Mainland, 53, a vet nurse from Wales, is married to Timothy, 54. They have two grown-up children.

“I joined the forums last Christmas after reading about them in the magazine. I posted in the Supper Club forum saying I wanted to have some fun.

I didn’t think it would take off, but it seemed to strike a chord and seven women came to the first meeting in a bistro pub called The Plough.

We all got on so well and it was such a success that we have met six more times and our numbers just keep growing.

Because we all have common ground with the magazine, everyone fits in – we all have similar interests and family situations.

I’m trying to organise all the women to enrol for a one-day course at a cookery school for our next meet. We all feel comfortable with each other now and have built up solid friendships.

The forums make it so easy to widen your social circle.”
