Sue's blog: London marathon
Emma Morton-Turner at the London Marathon
What an amazing sight it was to see all of those marathon runners pounding the streets of London yesterday. I really admire them for taking part in the gruelling 26 mile event and for raising money for their respective charities.
Amongst the 36,000 London marathon runners was our very own Emma Morton-Turner, woman&home's Homes Editor. Emma ran to raise money for our chosen charity, Breast Cancer Care. Emma's recovering today (hopefully with her feet up) but she says that she can't wipe the smile off her face! Well done Emma, we're all very, very proud of you.
Emma says: "I was hoping for a fast time but the sun and heat was just too much for me and I was a lot slower than planned. The crowds cheering me on and calling my name was fantastic. I reached the finishing line after a very long 5 hours and 37 minutes with a smile on my face (and quite a few tears)."
Last year, Emma completed our 20 mile Ribbon Walk for Breast Cancer Care. It inspired her to sign up for the London marathon this year. It's not too late for you to do the same. There are still places available on our ten and twenty mile Ribbon Walks. Sign up today!
Find out more about our Ribbon Walks here. If you can't take part, you can still donate to the woman&home Ribbon Walk fund via our justgiving fundraising page.
I hope to see you there.
Sue
