The Eve Appeal
The Eve Appeal is asking you to help raise money for research which could halve the number of deaths from ovarian cancer.
At the moment there is no screening programme to detect ovarian cancer, as there is with breast cancer. The Eve Appeal's current focus is to raise funds for one of the world's largest and most successful ovarian cancer research programmes.
Professor Jacobs, the UK's leading gynaecological oncologist, and his team are pioneering better ways of predicting which women will develop ovarian cancer, investigating and testing better methods of detecting it at an earlier and more treatable stage, discovering more effective treatments and working with doctors to improve the care of women with cancer.
The stark facts are that when it is detected at its most advanced stage, over 85% of women who develop ovarian cancer will die from the disease. But the wonderfully hopeful fact is that when it is detected in the early stages, 95% of women will survive.
Your Fundraising
Your fund raising can make a difference. During Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in March, The Eve Appeal are asking people to organise a tea party to raise crucial funds and awareness about ovarian cancer.
To request a TEA fundraising pack, please email fundraise@eveappeal.org.uk with your name and address details, or call 020 7299 4434. Alternatively, you can download a copy of the 2009 TEA Fundraising Pack from eveappeal.org.uk
