The Supper Clubbers

More of you than ever are logging on to the forums at www.womanandhome.com. We found out what you’ve been getting up to at Supper Clubs – and beyond

More of you than ever are logging on to our free forums. We hear from some of you who have joined Supper Clubs to find out more...

Catherine Taylor from Paisley, near Glasgow
“When I read about Supper Clubs in w&h, they were just what I was looking for. Since my sons have grown up, I’ve started to get my own life back. I went on to the w&h Supper Club forum and there was a thread talking about starting a Glasgow club. We agreed to meet up for a coffee, but only two of us turned up. It’s easy to be enthusiastic online, but people are wary of taking that next step.

I posted a message telling everyone I understood how they felt, but that we should take the plunge! It seemed to strike a chord. Now we have seven members. We’re all different – various careers and outlooks – but it works. A few of us have our own businesses and it’s useful to get advice from each other.”

Cathy McGrady from East Kilbride
“I thought the Supper Clubs were a great idea. I’d had a very difficult year and I wanted to try something different. So, very nervous, I went to Glasgow’s railway station to meet everyone and I was amazed at how well we all got on. I’m so pleased I made the leap, and I think it’ll open up other doors for me too.”

Anita Douglas from Renfrew
“I like trying new things. I used to be quiet, but my job, which is quite male-orientated, forced me to get out there. When I read about the Supper Clubs, I thought it sounded a bit different.

If anyone’s interested in joining one, I’d say take a deep breath and go for it. If you don’t enjoy it, there’s nothing lost. We’re going from strength to strength.”

Ann Leadbetter from East Kilbride
“When I started working for myself I missed the social life. I realised friendship wasn’t going to land in my lap, so when I read about the Supper Clubs I knew it was for me. We hit it off straight away. I always come away from our suppers feeling happier. I’m so glad I went on to the forums.”
