Spicy puff pastry straws recipe


Looking for a quick and simple party nibble or easy snack?

This quick and easy recipe makes moreish, spicy puff pastry straws that are perfect party nibbles or picnic food.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Serves 8

150g (5oz) ready-rolled puff pastry
1 egg, beaten
½tsp hot smoked, or plain, paprika (pimenton)
½tsp ground cumin
2tbsp grated fresh Parmesan

Preheat oven to 200 C, 180 C fan oven, 400 F, gas 6. Roll pastry into a rectangle (approx 41 x 26cm/16 x 10in). Brush with a little egg and sprinkle spices and Parmesan evenly over the surface. Fold pastry in half towards you, press lightly with the rolling pin and trim edges. Brush with the remaining egg, cut into straws (1cm/½in thick). Pick up each straw and twist in opposite directions. Bake on a greased baking sheet for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown, then cool on a wire rack.

Per straw: 95cals, 7g fat, 1g saturated fat, 7g carbohydrate
