Avoid coughs, colds and sniffles. Boost your immune system by eating the right foods
Fill your diet with vitamins and minerals, including antioxidants to help neutralise excess free radicals. Food provides all you need – vitamins A, C, E, iron, zinc and selenium. Give yourself a boost with protein-rich foods, fish oils for vitamin D, and wholegrains and green veg for vitamin B.
Eat plenty of:
- citrus fruit for vitamin C
- avocados for vitamin E
- carrots and squash for beta-carotene
- lean meat and poultry for iron and protein
- wholegrains for vitamin B
- nuts and seeds for vitamin E, protein, minerals and vitamin B
Cut down on:
- foods high in saturated fats, such as cheese and butter
- sugar: replace with fruit sugar, eg Fruisana
- processed carbs such as crisps and white bread
- alcohol
- caffeine
