Rosemary and parma ham scallops recipe

Entertaining this weekend? Try our easy recipes for feeding friends and family outdoors or indoors,

It’s official. We’ve checked the weather forecast and it’s definitely going to stop raining for at least six hours of bank holiday! Being British, this is good enough for us so it’s time to dust off the barbecue, get the wine and beer chilling and invite friends round for a laid-back lunch or supper. Try some of our favourite outdoor recipes - the main courses are all fab done on the barbecue, but can be easily adapted to indoor eating… just in case!

Rosemary and Parma ham scallops recipe
Fish cooked on the barbecue is just wonderful, and has the advantage of not filling your house with fishy fumes

Orange, chicory and beetroot salad with almonds recipe
This is a beautiful and refreshing salad, the sweetness of the almonds contrasting beautifully with the bitter crunch of the chicory

Nectarine, Parma ham and feta salad recipe
One of our absolute favourites, the flavours here are just to die for. This can also be served as a starter for a more formal dinner party

Baked sea bass with avocado and pomegranate salad recipe
Although this baked sea bass recipe is for oven-cooking, a whole seabass will cook perfectly on the barbie in about 20 minutes (10 minutes on each side)

Chargrilled Asian-marinated guinea fowl recipe
Guinea fowl has a more gamey flavour than chicken, which really stands up to these punchy Asian flavours

Chargrilled courgette salad with ginger recipe
The perfect partner to the guinea fowl recipe, courgettes are nice and sturdy, and so won’t collapse on the barbecue

Halloumi, red pepper and aubergine kebab recipe
Not just for veggies, we can’t recommend barbecuing halloumi enough. Next to the juicy, yielding flesh of the aubergines, its salty chewiness is utterly delectable

Chicken satay with cucumber and toasted peanut salad recipe
Chicken satay is a guaranteed crowd pleaser, and this salad provides a great contrast of texture

Easy peach drizzle cake recipe
Finish off your meal with this easy peasy peach drizzlecake. Make it even more summery by serving it with the ice cream below

Créme fraîche ice cream recipe
Deliciously rich but with a satisfying tangy edge, this is fab with fruity or chocolate puds, or simply on its own drenched in your favourite liqueur

Strawberry, chocolate and Amaretti cheesecake recipe

Maybe the easiest cheesecake recipe you’ll find, this delicious cheesecake sets immediately so it’s a perfect last minute pud
