Detox diet: food to enjoy

Find out what food you can eat when following Woman and home magazine's detox diet plan to lose weight fast

The detox diet has some very simple rules. Simply stick to this food list to lose weight quickly.

Fresh Fruit
Better eaten and digested alone. Have for breakfast or as a between-meals snack an hour or two before or after a meal.

Fresh Veggies and Salad
Try to buy organic. Onions, garlic and ginger are especially detoxifying.

Whole grains
Brown rice, millet, quinoa, rye and barley are all beneficial.

Fresh fish
Oily varieties are best. Complete the first week of the detox before you add fish three times a week.

Organic free-range eggs
Eat a maximum of six a week after the first week of detox.

Beans, pulses and soya
Include soya milk, tofu and soya yogurt.

Raw nuts and seeds
Except peanuts and nut butters, although peanut butter is fine.

Cold pressed olive oil and flaxseed oil

Don’t cook with them but do drizzle them over salads and vegetables.

Herbal tea and water
Too taxing to down two litres of water a day? Use a large wine glass rather than a tumbler – it feels nicer!

Organic poultry
Not during the detox but eat as part of a healthy eating plan afterwards.

Herbs and spices
These will make your meals more exciting. A little balsamic vinegar is okay too.
