Spa low-down: This is a place of juices, fasting and colonic irrigation and, boy, does your body respond.
It’s located in a beautiful valley a few miles from Lagos and is secluded and serene. There are never more than 15 or 16 guests so everybody gets individual attention. It’s based on juice fasting – a litre of diluted fruit juice morning and at lunch, vegetable juice in the afternoons and broth for supper, with various pills and potions to help stabilise blood sugar and prevent bloating. The juices are preceded by bentonite clay and psyllium husks and you’ll never feel hungry.
Go it alone: This is for people who enjoy solitude, good yoga and who need to lose weight and relax. There’s massage, yoga, swimming, walking, hot tubs – as well as a killer headache as toxins leave the body. And then there are the twice-daily, self-administered colonics – the best facial as skin looks amazing even after one treatment.
